Below are some of the paragraphs we created in class:
EXAMPLE #!
,In the novel, Of Mice and Men, Curley’s wife can be portrayed as a lonely predator that manipulates the ranch hands to get what she wants.
CD: Curley’s wife used her status to threaten and control Crooks, “I could get you strung up on a tree it ain’t even funny,” (81) putting Crooks into his place.
COMM: Curley’s wife is always creating fear as a tornado creates helplessness in anyone who is in its wake. She forces the men to talk to her to try to feed her desire for attention.
CD:Blinded by her own judgement, she disrespects them with vulgar words, “she was breathless with indignation...standing here talking to a bunch a bindle stiffs” (78).
COMM: Curley's wife is in a need of constant attention this addiction can lead to some melt downs; where she can be vulgar and rude.
CS Obviously, Curley’s wife is like Scar from the “Lion King,” she smooth talks her prey before she goes in for kill to leave an impression of power over the other ranch hands.

EXAMPLE #2
In the novel, In the novel, Of Mice and Men, Lennie,is portrayed as a mammoth sized man because of his figure, strength, and limited mind.
CD Lennie, a huge, loyal man who is shown as unintelligent, or otherwise called “shapeless of face,” which shows his childlike reasoning and dull mind (2).
COMM: Lennie always needs someone to look out for him because he cannot control his actions. For example, he touched the puppies once too which could lead to the puppies death.
CD: Lennie appears as a giant of a man; how he always, “[he] walks heavily, dragging his feet a little, the way a bear drags his paws,” making him appear strange to the normal person (2).
COMM: Lennie cannot tell what is right from wrong. His incredible strength outweighs his brains. For example, when he was in Weed hanging on to the ladies dress, he never lets go because he did not know that it was wrong.
CS: Even though Lennie’s impeccable strength gets him into trouble; he still has hope that they will live the American Dream of owning a piece of land.
Example #3
TS, In the novel, Of Mice and Men, George Milton, is portrayed as a manipulative man needing him [Lennie] to work and to save enough money for their dream ranch but who still cares deeply for this disabled person he has vowed to care of him.
CD George knows he can abuse Lennie’s strength to work and protect himself, “the small man [George] stepped nervously beside him [Lennie,]” (3) showing that unless he stopped Lennie from drinking the “tainted,” water he will not be around to help achieve the dream ranch.
COMM. George does not want Lennie to get sick from tasting the “tainted,” water because he wants him to earn enough money to be applied toward the “dream ranch.” Also, he needs his strength to make sure the ranch is successful.
CD George talks to Lennie for the last time, “no Lennie I ain’t mad, I have never been mad and I ain’t now” (106), because George realized that he no longer has to care for or worry about him.
COMM This shows that George is glad that now Lennie is dead, he won’t get into trouble, have to flee his job, and more importantly, won’t kill another living thing.
CS Clearly, the care that George had for Lennie shows how he needed Lennie; but at the same time he held him back.
