For the months of November and December you are to diligently read your personally selected novel. Following is the assignment and culminating project. These both are due Monday, January 4th. Each Friday when class is in session-- you will need to bring your book and tell me what page you are on, to keep to your goal set. (20 points per week).
- Written Assignment: (100 points)—This will need to be turned into TURNITIN.com. 1/4/2016.
- Regardless of total pages of your book:
- Approximately every 100 pages you need to harvest 3 quotes that define the “theme,” of the novel. These are to be typed and commentary is to be written for each one.
- A Character Map or outline of main characters and whom they relate to or affect in the story. At least 5 characters-- certainly can be more. Can be drawn.
- A book critique that includes the following: (500 words)
- Your overall impression why you liked or disliked the novel, it can have elements of both
- Summary of novel without giving the ending away.
- What type of genre it is: Horror, Sci-Fi, Realistic, Historical Fiction, etc. If unsure about genre--let’s talk about it and I will help you identify the specific genre.
- Culminating project: Visual representation of novel. (100 points)Bring to class 1/4/2016
- A collage or poster, at least 8 x14
- A Power Point or Prezi ( 10 slides)
- A video ( 5 minutes)
- A cartoon (10 frames)
- An hand drawnillustration, at least 8 x 11
- A mobile, (ten items)
- A 3D model, with Legos, clay, or other materials to bring the book to life. At least 10 items.
- A game based on the book, at least 10 elements to play the game.
- A poem or song lyrics --5 stanzas, at least 4 lines per stanza with at least one illustration.
- A Character box, items in a shoebox artfully arranged that represents the elements and characters in your novel. At least 10 items, labeled.
