License Plate Character Assignment and Character Paragraph
Due: Tuesday, May 30th 2017
For this assignment, you are to create a vanity license plate (personalized plate) for a character of your choice from the characters in To Kill A Mockingbird. In order to do this, you will need to spend some time thinking about the character and his/her beliefs and traits. You may not spell out or abbreviate the title of the book.
Once you think of those traits, you need to think of how you might express them using the vanity plate format. For example, for Atticus you might chose: 1SHTATTCS--“One Shot Atticus” Other example messages-Miss Maudie” LVS2GARDN” “Loves to Garden.”
The license plate “message” needs to be between 5 and 10 characters, including spaces. (I know, most vanity plates have a maximum of 7 characters…but for creativity’s sake, I’ll let you do up to 10.)Once you come up with your message, you will need to draw the vanity plate. In addition to the message, this art work needs to include the other elements that appear on the average license plate. It should be colorful as well.
Provide a structured (8 sentences) one-paragraph explanation of the plate’s message and how it represents your character’s beliefs or personality. This paragraph needs to be typed and attached with a paper clip to Literature License Plate—must have a MLA heading. Remember you can choose any character. Don’t be afraid to look beyond the obvious……
