Important Information on TKAM Future Essay: New Prompt
As a team we have decided that our essay will be based only on TKAM,a formal literary analysis with only one source: the novel,TKAM. “How does Harper Lee use her characters to enhance her universal themes presented in the novel,TKAM?” In a multi-paragraph, 6 chunk essay, choose one or two key characters from TKAM and provide evidence from the text how they represented one or more of the following universal themes?

Chapter 7: Jem faces the truth about Nathan and Boo Radley.
- What is the condition of Jem’s pants when he found them? Why does the condition of his pants frighten him?

- Jem is very upset about the tree, what does Attiicus tell him about the condition of the tree?

Chapter 8: Miss Maudie suffers a terrible loss. Boo Radley makes an appearance.
- What happens to Miss Maudie’s house in her attempt to keep her plants from freezing?

Chapter 9: Tom Robinson is falsely accused of raping Mayella Ewell.
- Who has Atticus decided to defend and why is this important?
- What request of Scout, does Atticus make her agree to-- after Scout gets in trouble at school once again?
- Why does Scout take the blame at Christmas, at Finch's Landing, for her fight with Frances?
- According to Atticus what is Maycomb’s “usual disease”?
- What is Aunt Alexandra,Atticus’ sister, and Uncle Jack’s,his brother’s, opinion of the way Atticus is raising his children, Scout and Jem? But what is the truth about his parenting skills?
