Today in class we read chapter 13 and here are the notes from Chapter 13:
- Aunt Alexandra wants to turn Scout into a lady.
- Aunt Alexandra thinks that she is “all that/superior to others” because of where she was born.
- Atticus needs Aunt Alexandra to take care of Scout and Jem so he tolerates her snootiness/racism and because of the trial of Tom Robinson. [Atticus is defending an African –American].
- Atticus describes Cousin Joshua as crazy. Aunt Alexandra describes him as a poet.
- Men have certain roles and females have certain roles.
